Still a few questions floating around regarding the Spring Challenge.

We’ve run this thing every year since we’ve been in business, and it’s evolved every year as well.

But basically it’s part nutrition challenge, part friendly amazing race/scavenger hunt/bootcamp/team WOD.

It’s a great time of year (rolling out of winter) to step up the game a notch, and move into summer with big goals achieved, a healthier body, some new friends, and maybe some bragging rights if you take out the comp!

What is involved in the main Team Challenge?

Once we have all the entries, we’ll split everyone into even sized groups.  These people will now be your team mates, your supporters, your staunchest allies, the people who will have your back when you don’t feel like training, or want to demolish a packet of Tim Tams……

We’ll run periodic challenges and  and award a prize to the victorious team at the end of the Spring Challenge.

The number one aim of these challenges is to have fun, second is to allow you guys to get to know each other better, and to motivate each other to succeed in meeting your goals.  The actual competition itself is the least important to us….

What else do we do?

You’ll also be getting lots of nutrition information and ideas on how to kick things up a notch for the next 8 weeks. We’re also bringing back a rule from one of the first years we did the challenge – you’ll be required to log your exercise and nutrition habits on a daily basis in order to be eligible for awesome prizes.

“I wanted to say thank you for running another successful Spring Clean.  I have experienced a massive shift regarding the way I eat.  I was a Paleo sceptic.  I knew that white carbs and sugar (same thing) are bad for you.  But I was not convinced about all grains and legumes and eating more fat seemed a little crazy.

What convinced me?  The 5cm off my waist and the muscle gained.

That was accomplished on my nutrition alone as an injury prevented a full training load.  Which makes me really excited about the possibilities for when I do get back to training properly again!

Did I miss a few things?  The odd glass of wine, for sure.  Was I 100% pure Paleo? The chocolate and flat whites I consumed during the challenge makes it about 90%.   Was I ever hungry? Not once.  Did I feel like I was missing out?  Nope.

Eating clean for 8 weeks has decreased my appetite for all those things that were craved previously.  In fact after a weekend of “free eating” I actually crave the good stuff over treats.  I am not a sceptic anymore…”

Now what about the Accountability group?

This group will run for the 8 weeks of the challenge, during which you will have the extra ongoing support of Clare Tyler (naturopath and nutrition geek…..) to sort out your eating habits, hone in on some good nutrition, and ultimately switch from sugar-dependant to fat-burning machine as well as get a bunch of other information on how to live and eat healthier.

Why would I upgrade to the Accountability Group?

  • Because you’ve been training your butt off and have seen performance improvements, but body composition is not budging.

  • You are currently balancing a busy lifestyle, raising kids, a stressful job, social events etc that lead to temptation and you need help to get on track.

  •  You work better when you have someone to be directly accountable to (hence the clever name….:) and/or you feel that you could do with some extra one on one time and personal tweaking of your nutrition, exercise and lifestyle factors.

What’s in it for me…?

  • A dietary ‘how to’ guide, with meal plans, recipes and shopping lists

  • Weekly body composition measurements and food diary check ins to keep you on track

  • Support throughout the challenge from me and from the others in the group.

  • Weekly seminars on topics such as: Switching from sugar to fat burning;  Supplements to Support your Transition; Intermittent Fasting;  Healthy Fats; Rest and Recovery…

  • Making a huge, positive change in your life, pride in your accomplishment and the dedication it took, feeling awesome and achieving awesome stuff!

  • Prizes –  there will be cash prizes up for grabs and other goodies.  The amount will be determined on the number of people entered, and this year they will be awarded based on effort and participation rather than results alone.  We’re looking for lifestyle changes, not who can starve the best!

What about the Muscle Gain group?

This is a new aspect to our challenge this year.  With the help of Craig and his very successful experiments in the Strength Division class, plus our own experiences trying to gain quality lean muscle, we’re offering this to anyone (guy or gal) who wants to put on some functional weight and get stronger to boot).

  • You’ll receive custom hypertrophy workouts to complete in place of class metcons, personalised dietary plans and weekly get togethers and group workouts to motivate, inspire  and hold you accountable.
  • Also, we’ve got a supplement starter pack for participants of protein powder, creatine and coconut oil to get you started.
  • There will prizes in a similar vein to the Accountability group.
